DPPH antiradical activity and total phenolic content of methanol and ethanol extracts from macroalgae (Ulva rigida) and microalgae (Chlorella)

Introduction: Algae are widely popular as dietary supplement. Furthermore, they can be a great source of antioxidants (pigments, alkaloids, carotenoids, phenolic acids, sulfated polysaccharides and long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids etc.) used instead synthetic ones. The different nutrient compositions algae depend on class, species, habitats, maturity, environmental conditions. Aim: present study aims to investigate the differences in antioxidant activity (AOA) total content (TPC) macroalgae Ulva rigida from Black Sea microalgae Chlorella . In addition, obtained results will show their potential natural sources antioxidants. Materials Methods: marine were perform solvent extracts, which analyzed for antiradical phenol content. Results Discussion: All extracts (methanol ethanol) showed positive DPPH test TPC. Both methanol had higher scavenging effect radicals compared both ethanol same plant material. high species due perhaps other compounds having activity. Conclusion: added new functional foods supplements, well basis pharmaceutical cosmetic products.
